Of all prophesies, those which predict events that last for a particular period of time or occur at the end of a set period of time are some of the most important for students of prophesy, because they assist in verifying whether or not the interpretation of prophesy to a particular date or time is accurate. If a predicted event is recorded in history as having happened at a prophesied time or for a prophesied duration, it not only does it verify the prophesy but removes any doubt that the event is actually the event prophesied.
Note: all time prophecies are based on the
principle that a prophetic day = 1 year of real time. There are many
biblical examples that support this usage.
Below are a number of prophecies in the Book of Daniel and the Book of Revelation that give time frames of prophecied events.
If the Book of Revelation is set within the timeframe of the "Sevens" of the Book as this series of studies suggest, their
fulfillent should take place in the timeframe indicated in the Book, thereby proving (or disproving) that the prophecies of the
book are accurate (or not) and that the timeframe of the "Sevens" as set out in this study is factual (or not).
With each prophecy, I have researched the history of each timeframe to find an event that appears to be a fulfilment of that prophecy. What is presented here is the result of my research. I make no claims that the events detailed are in fact the actual events referred to in each prophecy, but present the results of my research for the reader to draw their own conclusions.
Prophecied Time Span: 360 Years
Prophecied event: Rome Empire would last for 360 years, from its invasion of the kingdom of the South (Egypt) until it moved of its capital South.
Fulfillment: It was 360 years from the time Rome conquered Egypt in the Battle of Actum in 30 B.C. until the time the capital was moved from Rome to Constantinople in 330 A.D.
Prophecied Time Span: 2300 Evenings & mornings (2,300 years)
Prophecied event: Period from the time the desolation of the temple and ceasing of continual offerings (70 A.D., to the point that both the host (the people of the Southern Kingdom, Judah) are allowed back to the sanctuary (Jerusalem) and will no longer be trodden under foot (2,370 A.D.)
Fulfillment: Yet to be fulfilled
Prophecied Time Span: 70 Weeks (70 x 7 years = 490 years)
Prophecied event: The Time Remaining for the Jewish Nation was given a 490 years, commencing from the Babylonian captivity until the completion of God's dealings with them.
Fulfillment: The 490 years began in 457 BC and finished in 33 AD, the year in which Jesus he would not speak to yjrm again until they said "Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord".
Prophecied Time Span: 42 months (3 1/2 years = 1260 prophetic weeks = 1260 years
Prophecied event: Power is given to The Beast to rule for 42 months
Fulfillment: The 1260-year Papal control of the Church lasted from 538 A.D. when the last of the Barbarian tribes was removed from Rome and the Bishop of Rome could exercise his full power. It continued until 1798 when Pope Pius VI was imprisoned by General Berthier of France and the forces of the French Revolution tried to remove Catholicism and Christianity.
Prophecied Time Span: 10 days (10 years)
Prophecied event: 10 years of persecution for the church of Smyrna
Fulfillment: This may refer to the last and greatest organized persecution of the Christian church under Emperor Diocletian during the years 303 - 313 A.D. Smyrna, a Greek city located at a strategic point on the Aegean coast of Anatolia, is one of the localities where Christian were killed for their faith by him.
Prophecied Time Span: Time, times and half time (3 1/2 years = 1,260 days)
Prophecied event: The two witnesses given power by God to speak under persecution (in sackcloth)
Fulfillment: In 533 AD, the supremacy of Rome in ecclesiastical affairs and control of the Bible was recognised by Justinian. 1260 years later, in 1793, the new constitution of France stripped Rome of its control over France and outlawed the Bible in that country.
Prophecied Time Span: 1290 days (1290 years)
Prophecied event: From the time the continual burnt offering is taken away and the abomination makes desolate to the time of many purifying themselves and the teachers gaining wisdom and understanding.
Fulfillment: The continual burt offering in the temple at Jerusalem ceased in 70 A.D. when the temple was desecrated and left desolate. 1,290 years later, in 1360 AD. John Wycliffe began translation of the Bible into the Engiish language, allowing people to read the Bible in their own language for the first time.
Prophecied Time Span: 1335 days (1335 Years)
Prophecied event: From the time when the of the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away,
blessed is he that waits, and comes to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.
Fulfillment: the daily sacrifice was taken away in 70 AD. 1,335 years later, in 1,405, John Wycliffe's Bible
was first published on the European mainland in languages other than Latin, which the public were not permitted to read.
Prophecied Time Span: Time, times and half time, or Time, times and the dividing of time (1 + 2 = 3 and 1/2 years = 1,260 days)
Prophecied event: The Temple (God's church) given over to the Gentiles (Roman rule)
Fulfillment: the total control of the Holy Roman Empire over the christian church commenced 538 A.D. when the last of the Barbarian tribes was removed from Rome and the Bishop of Rome could exercise his full power. It continued until 1798 when Pope Pius VI was imprisoned by General Berthier.
Prophecied Time Span: 3 and a half days (3 1/2 years)
Prophecied event: The two witnesses (the Old and New Testaments) would be killed and lay dead for 3 1/2 years, after whixh they would be brought back to life. Fulfillment: During a critical period of the French Revolution lasting exactly 3 1/2 years, the revolutionaries attempted to ban God and replace the Church with a new religion. Many of the secularist ideas that gave rise to communism, evolution and abandonment of God for personal beliefs were formed. Amazingly, France did not maintain its edict of October 1790 that banned the reading of the Bible and denied God's existence for long. On 7th May 1794, three and a half years after the ruling was made, Maximilien Robespierre, the dominant force behind the Committee of Public Safety, obtained a decree from the convention, proclaiming "the existence of the Supreme Being"; and another on 8th June, decreeing a national festival to his honour.
Prophecied Time Span: 5 months (5 x 30 years = 150 years)
Prophecied event: Fifth trumpet brings 5 months of torment for people without the seal on their foreheads (christians, but not under the rule of Holy Roman Empire).
Fulfillment: The historian E.Gibbon says, "It was on the 27th day of July, in the year 1299, that Othman first invaded the territory of Nicomedia (the Eastern Roman empire); and the singular accuracy of the dates seems to disclose some foresight of the rapid and destructive growth of the monster." They did not gain freedom until 1449 when Constantine took the throne.
Prophecied Time Span: "An hour, a day, a month, and a year" An hour is 1/24 part of a day". This fractional part of a year would therefore be 15 days. 360 + 30 = 390 + 1 = 391 years + 15 days.
Prophecied event: The four angels loosed were loosed which were bound to the great river Euphrates.
Fulfillment: On 27th July, 1299, Othman 1 invaded Nicomedia. This begins the previous measurement of 50 years above. Reckoning from 27th July 1449 (exactly 50 years), the 391 years will bring us to 27th July 1840. Now add the last fraction of the measurement - the one prophetic hour,or 15 days - to 27th July 1840 brings us to 11th August, 1840. In 1840, Egypt was threatening Turkey and was well able to conquer her. Turkey appealed to the European nations which agreed to protect her. The ultimatum they sent to Egypt arrived on the dot, on August 11, 1840. The Ottoman Empire was finished.
Prophecied Time Span: 1 hour (15 days)
Prophecied event: Ten kings join with the Beast to bring down the harlot.
Fulfillment: Mickael Gorbachev attended G7 economic summit meeting on 17th July, contrary to policy of Soviet Union. It is believed that at or around that meeting, plans negotiated by Vatican and EEC (it then had 10 member nnations) were put into place at the beginning of August which resulted in the fall of the Soviet Union. Prophecied Time Span: 1 hour (15 days)
Prophecied event: Judgement on the harlot riding on a red beast
Fulfillment: As the Soviet Union floundered under the impact of political movements, a plot was hatched on 16th August to kidnap Mickael Gorbachev, rendering the Soviet Government incapacitated and without a leader for 15 days. As a result, on 31st August, 1991, the Russian Federation chose independence, which left the USSR without leadership and plunging it into freefall.
Revelation 8:1 references a silence in heaven for 1 hour (15 days). Could this be a reference to the
same event? It is possible, but unlikely.
